Dear Devin,
Thank you for your wonderful record of your travels – the photographs and text are very informative. I too have a passion for textiles and have recently arrived in Myanmar. I am hoping to travel to Inle Lake and wondered if I could ask you where I can find the lotus weaving workshop and shop with scarves that featured on your blog? Could you also please tell me, were the woven scarves dyed using natural plant dyes?
Thank you for any help you might be able to give me and I hope that your future projects work very well.
Regards,
Frances
Hi Frances,
Thank you so much for reading! Yes, the scarves are all naturally dyed in beautiful hues. If you hire a boat and guide to take you around the lake (and there are many boats to choose from!), your guide will undoubtedly be able to take you to a lotus weaving workshop. There are quite a few on the lake, and most of them seem to cater to visitors. Just let your tour guide know that you would like to visit the various workshops, and I am sure he will be able to take you to multiple locations. I’d love to hear how your trip goes!
Take care,
Devin
